The first general SIFE meeting for the year was a huge disappointment. Only 1 other person showed besides Vice-President Rushana Aglyamova and I. I received e-mails from some people that had time conflicts and those were noted but everyone else who would like to be involved with RIT SIFE had no excuse (that has been sent to me) for missing our first big meeting outlining our activities for the year. I know it is Mid-term time and it may be tough on you to come to the meetings but, if that’s the case please e-mail me and tell me beforehand so I won’t expect you to be there. RIT is making big strides for Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship and as a club/team, SIFE should definitely be involved in making those strides come to fruition. Due to time conflicts the meeting time has been changed to Wednesdays at 6:00pm. Be there! There are important things to discuss! The Entrepreneurship conference is only 4 days away!

Hey guys, the meeting time has been set and it’s Thursdays between 4:00-6:00pm in the College of Business Lobby Area. Come with enthusiasm and show us what you’re all about at our first full member meeting of the year. Bring your friends if you think they will be interested. We will be discussing future projects, officer positions, and other interesting stuff. If you didn’t get this message in an e-mail then this reminder is specifically for you!!!

The Picnic was a big success this year, overall and for SIFE. We got a good number of new names for our mailing list so hopefully we’ll have a few new members soon! Also, our advisor Peter Rosenthal did some networking and said that he might have some opportunities for SIFE members to coach Virtual Enterprise students. Virtual Enterprise is an international program that helps high school students embrace the business world and learn about the different aspects of it. It would be a great opportunity for us.

We’re going to be at ImagineRIT tomorrow from 10AM to 4PM in the Gordon Field House (Exhibit 483), so be sure to stop by and show your support!

Speaking of support, for those of you who don’t know we’re currently a Tier 1 SG club, which means we receive no funding through Student Government; we rely solely on fundraising, and after our next speaker comes in we’ll be out of money. This year we’ve been so busy with entrepreneurship related events and community outreach that we haven’t had the time to raise money for our own club. We can get a budget from SG if we’re bumped up to Tier 2 or Tier 3, but for that to happen we have to demonstrate that we’re active enough to warrant a tier increase. I ask that everyone show Student Government that we’re worth your tuition dollars by donating a small $10 or $5 gift to RIT SIFE, as our hard working club officers have already done. Your gift can make a difference, especially considering that all student gifts this year are being matched 1:1 by Dr. Destler. Next school year we plan on having at least 2 entrepreneurship speakers come in every quarter, but that and other great activities can’t happen without your support.

How can you give?
You can fill out a donation form, which we’ll have available at our ImagineRIT table tomorrow, at our entrepreneurship speaker event on Monday, and any other events we have this quarter. Donations are tax deductible and can be made with cash, check, or credit card. If you can’t make it to any of our events, feel free to schedule a time to meet with me and make a donation.

Thanks to the following Members who have donated so far:
Josh Tomaka - Member
Rushana Anglyamova - Secretary
Cleveland Bonner - SG Representative
Megan Soriano - Treasurer
Soham Ghosh - Vice President
Sean Hayes - President

Thank you for supporting our club!
